What is considered a damaged box?Updated 17 days ago
A damaged box is original packaging with damage beyond the minor dents, scuffs and small rips that any box picks up in a store or in transit. PUSHAS accepts items with damaged boxes, provided the damage has not affected the item inside. The listing must be marked as a damaged box so the buyer knows exactly what they are receiving.
What is not considered damaged?
Boxes arrive from retailers and couriers with marks on them. This is normal, it is expected, and it does not need to be declared.
- Minor dents and creasing
- Small scuffs and surface marks
- Small rips or nicks along an edge or corner
- Light shelf wear from retail display
This is the same standard any sneaker store works to. A box in this condition is listed as normal.
What is considered a damaged box?
Damage beyond ordinary wear must be declared. That includes:
- Crushed, collapsed or caved panels
- Large tears, splits or holes
- Water damage, staining or mould
- A missing, broken or mismatched lid
- Heavy writing, labelling or tape residue across the box
- Significant fading or discolouration
Below are examples of boxes that count as damaged.
Does PUSHAS accept damaged boxes?
Yes, as long as the damage has not affected the item inside. The box can be in poor condition. The piece within it cannot.
If the damage has reached the item itself, the piece is no longer brand new and PUSHAS will not accept it.
How do I list a damaged box?
Set Box Condition to Damaged Box in the Seller Platform when you create the listing. Do not rely on a note in the description. The field is what displays the condition to the buyer.
What happens if I do not declare it?
Every item is inspected on arrival. If a box is assessed as damaged and the listing did not say so, the seller incurs an Error Fee under the Seller Agreement.
Declaring it costs you very little. Not declaring it costs you the fee, and it costs the buyer the experience they were expecting.
How does a damaged box affect the price?
Damaged box listings usually sit below equivalent listings in the same size, because buyers account for the condition of the packaging. Set your payout accordingly.
Does this apply to collectibles?
Yes, and it matters more. On a sealed collectible the packaging is part of the piece, not a container for it, and buyers price it that way. Declare box condition on collectibles with the same care you would give the item itself.
What will I receive as a buyer?
If a listing is not marked as a damaged box, expect a box in ordinary retail condition, which may carry minor dents, scuffs or small rips.
If a listing is marked as a damaged box, the packaging carries damage beyond that. The item inside is brand new, unworn and authenticated, exactly as any other piece on PUSHAS.
